What a white front rim does for a Moto GP bike
Suzuki and Aprilia recently experimented with a white front rim – Aleix Espargaro explains what it's about
Several MotoGP teams experimented with a white front rim during the first half of the season 2022. At Suzuki, one was seen in free practice for the Italian Grand Prix in Mugello. Before that time, a white rim was tried at Aprilia. What is it about?
“We were the first to use a white rim in Indonesia”, says Aprilia driver Aleix Espargaro, which explains that it lowers the temperature in the front tire: “The MotoGP field is so tight these days. two degrees [Celsius] makes a big difference.”

As for Aprilia, was the use described by Espargaro during the Indonesia weekend of 2022 indeed the first use of a white rim during a race weekend. But they came up with the idea much earlier.
