A company has offered a type of paint that allows cars to save the kilos that are left over to reach the FIA standard.
The FIA has had to raise its hand because only one team has complied with the car weight regulations: Alfa Romeo. The rest, cars that could be considered illegal.
Teams look for alternatives to lower the weight of their cars, that they cannot overcome798 kilos. And one of them is the type of painting. As reported by 'Motorsport', a company would have offered the teamsa lighter type of paint.
The problem would be the price. Because this painting would haunt the25.000 euros and it would mean a reduction of one kilo. Something that would not solve the headaches of, for instance, Red Bull, who is overweight by more than ten kilos.
Gian Luca Falleti, Paint Company CEO, explains it: “does not contain plastic. It is a product that does not burn and, so, improves the safety of single-seaters. applied cold, so there is no need to cycle the oven, which also shortens application times”.
The difference in weight between one and the other could be an advantage for the lighter ones. Whythose kilos of less would give the car up to two tenths per lap. Alfa Romeo, for now, has shown to have taken a step forward with respect to 2021.
Will the teams consider this new type of paint? Factories continue to develop cars, after only two races, and the cars are expected to show significant improvements already at this weekend's race in Australia.
