GP extension. Korea: Ferrari also uses Polysil

I had already told you before the Singapore GP about the use of Polysil in the rims to try to bring the tires to the right temperature in a short timeDiscovered the material used inside the rims: it is called Polysil. From the images seen today in the Korean pits we can see that Ferrari also uses this material which is produced by a company from Sassuolo called Nanoprom. The material used is a kind ofliquid glass with opacifying black pigment which is used to improve thermal conductivity and was born mainly for the nautical market. It is an atomic silicon-based coating with revolutionary characteristics which allows the protection of the substrate by reconditioning the surface structure. With a layer of a few microns with high surface hardness (9H), the surfaces also have a high resistance to abrasion. This "liquid glass" weighs 95% of a normal paint and has a temperature resistance of 1100°C. Currently, the paintwork on a Formula 1 wheel weighs between 65 and 85 grams. Thanks to this product, the paint weighs only 5 grams and in addition to improving the thermal conductivity it has given an improvement of 3 points to the CFD as less turbulence is generated.
