Exclusive: the Nanoprom launches the Q.R.S for the rims!

After Polysil, the Sassuolo engineering company offers another product to warm up the tires in the warm up

After supplying OZ Racing with Polysil, the silicon film formed by nanotechnologies which allows the heat of the rim to be retained with the aim of immediately sending the tires up to temperature in the first lap of each stint (qualifying and race), the Nanoprom, a company from Sassuolo, has already studied an interesting evolution of the theme: the Quantum Radial System. So far the technicians have worked only on the outer face of the rim, but inside the channel, making sure that the heat generated by the brake system is dissipated (the wheel reaches temperature peaks that reach 200 degrees) avoiding that there is fastest possible disposal thanks to the special ducts. With the current Pirelli tyres, the rim has taken on a secondary function which GP after GP is gaining more and more importance.

LIQUID GLASS The application is simple: the "liquid glass" is sprayed on the rim and a film of a few microns is created (to the touch you don't feel any step between the treated part and the "bare" part) which, in addition to guaranteeing a limited thermal conductivity , combines high abrasion resistance thanks to the surface hardness of this material which also offers a small aerodynamic advantage since it reduces the turbulence generated in the rim by wheel rotation. Without forgetting that the traditional painting of an F.1 wheel requires at least 65 grams of paint, while with Polysil just 5 grams are enough!

NANOPROM FORGE OF IDEAS Now in Sassuolo the ingenious Nanoprom technicians directed by Gianluca Falleti have studied a new treatment which is aimed at increasing the temperature on the inner face of the rim: in fact, in the exclusive image that we offer you, you can see the Quantum Radial System which has been sprayed with the power to have high thermal conductivity. The exact opposite of Polysil! The tests carried out demonstrated a marked improvement in the "warm up" in the rim and consequently in the tyre. Also in this case nanotechnologies have been used (some think that they are also materials of an aerospace and military nature!) but without having silicon as a starting element.

THERE IS NOT ONLY POLYSIL What is it about? For the moment the curiosity of the Q.R.S. cannot be satisfied, because the new material is still top secret, but there are several Formula 1 teams that have already shown great interest in this all-Italian innovation. What is the temperature increase that can be obtained from this treatment? Experiments started with a gain of five degrees, but subsequent tests are leading to more significant values, especially as it would be possible to generate more heat where the designer needs it most.

BUILDERS INTERESTED In short, the feeling is that Nanoprom does not want to be a company that wants to limit itself to offering only revolutionary products, but also has the ambition with its engineering to become a consultant to manufacturers, to develop other applications that can give performance advantages to single-seaters that represent the maximum expression of modern technology…
