NewsF1 Inside Tech: the importance of the wheel

In Formula 1, as well as on the dirt roads of world rallies and on everyday roads, it is the wheels, in collaboration with the tyres, that are the first "body of contact" of the car with the surface. It goes without saying that they therefore play a fundamental role in determining the goodness of driveability and grip.
And the leading company in the sector, OZ Racing, was born and based in Italy.
For every motor vehicle engineer, the reduction of unsprung masses constitutes a constant "battle", necessary for the search for dynamic behavior and superior road holding.
And this battle also inevitably involves choosing wheel rims that are increasingly lighter and, at the same time, stiffer and more resistant, so as to make the tires work at their best, matching them perfectly.
And in Formula 1, as well as in the other motor disciplines (Endurance, Rally, Motorcycling), this is an essential requirement.

It is therefore essential for the various teams to rely on partners of excellence in the sector: and many place their trust in OZ Racing, a company which, founded in 1971, from San Martino di Lupari (Padua), and present for over 30 years in the Motorsport, supplies its rims to various teams that are protagonists of the motor disciplines, from all over the world.
Suffice it to say that, only in Formula 1, OZ Racing supplies Ferrari, Mercedes AMG, Red Bull, Renault Sport, the main teams in the category.

And precisely in the maximum formula, in addition to the aforementioned characteristics of lightness and stiffness, other no less important "qualities" are also required, such as the aerodynamic optimization of the design, the dissipation of the heat given off by the brakes and, in close concert with it , optimal heating of the rim, in order to bring the tires into the "correct window of use".

In this regard, another Italian excellence comes into play, Nanoprom, which with the particular Polysil-based paints enhances this specific characteristic of "conveyance" of heat on the rims.

An all-Italian company that, through quality and innovation, has managed to make its way worldwide in such a crucial field as that of "racing wheels".
