Although Andrea is solo sailor, he was accompanied by full suite of Raymarine electronics during the race.  Andrea’s Open 50 Vento di Sardegna is equipped with our new Quantum CHIRP radar and our Evolution autopilot during the race.  Andrea is also a beta tester for Raymarine and on this trip Andrea was using our soon-to-be-released Evolution R4 software.   Building on the Evolution’s advanced aerospace derived technology, R4 software delivers greatly enhanced track and wind steering control using Evolution’s 9 axis heading sensor and special algorithms that adapt to wind shifts and cross track error much faster than conventional autopilots.  These new enhancements in R4 give long distance racing sailors like Andrea Mura the competitive edge in extreme conditions and through rough quartering seas.
